Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Showgirls
A naive, small town midwestern girl goes to Las Vegas to become a showgirl.   After having her luggage stolen, she befriends a local girl and they become best friends.

She gets a job as a backup dancer in a show. She eventually works her way up to becoming the understudy for the lead dancer.

After much teasing and degradation from the big star, she pushes the star down the stairs, injuring her and putting her out of comission.

The girl starts sleeping with the talent director to get the leading role. She becomes the big star, but soon finds that it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Her best friend is raped and beaten, the talent director shows his true colors and treats her like dooty and all of the other dancers resent and hate her.

She eventually decides that it's time to quit and leave Las Vegas.

This is the story of Nomi Malone. From her beginnings in a Las Vegas strip-tease club until her consecration as the lead dancer of the last production of the Stardust casino. Coming from nowhere, she's had guts and a strong character. She must have had in order to survive in this business. Her main adversary will be Gina Gershon, the actual lead dancer, who will be sexually attracted by her. But love is always linked to hate in Las Vegas.
