| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Last Boy Scout |
Bruce Willis stars as Joseph Hallenbeck, a down and out private investigator who teams up with disgraced former quarterback Jimmy Dix to solve the murder of Jimmy's girlfriend Cory. The movie starts out with Hallenback getting a phone call from his boss Mike Matthews (Bruce Mcgill) asking if he would bodyguard a stripper who was being harrased by some creep. He agrees to take the job but wanted to go home first where he finds his Mike hiding in the closet because he was sleeping with Hallenback's wife. They walk outside and Matthews gets in his car and it blows up.
Hallenback then shows up at a strip club to meet Cory and unceremoniously Jimmy Dix. WHile outside smoking a cigarette Hallenback gets knocked on the head and gets dragged away by some thugs, leaving Jimmy and Cory alone where they decide to take off on their own in seperate cars. Cory's car gets bumped and she get out where she is executed in a professional hit. Hallenback gets out of trouble with the thug in time to help Dix out of the predicament. After talking to the police Hallenback agrees to work with Dix to find out what's going on. Together they go to Cory's apartment and find out that Cory was blackmailing Sheldon "Shelly" Marcone (Noble Willingham) the owner of the L.A. Stallions, the team Dix played football for. Marcone was going to kill Senator Calvin Baynard so Marcone can have legalized sports betting. Hallenback and Dix dodge hitmen and escape ambushes.

Bruce Willis plays Joe Hallenback, a down an out PI and former Secret Service member. A friend and fellow PI is killed, so Joe takes over the case to uncover the murderer. He is tasked with protecting a stripper named Cory (Halle Berry), but when she is killed he teams up with her boyfriend, Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans). Dix is a former pro football player and he helps Hallenback uncover corrupt politicians and businessmen who will stop at nothing to make sure that professional sports gambling is made legal. There is plenty of action and plenty of one liners in this fast paced action romp.
