Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Rio Grande
RIO GRANDE is a movie directed by John Ford in 1950.

Colonel Kirby York is responsible for watching the territories on the northern side of the Rio Grande. The local Indian tribes take advantage of the fact that the army is not allowed to cross the river in order to pursue them into Mexico.

When York's son arrives as a simple soldier in the outpost with his mother right behind him, the life of the Colonel will be slightly disturbed. The York family has lived apart for fifteen years because of Mrs. York's reluctance to be the wife of a career officer.

Finally, Colonel York is unofficially authorized to enter the Mexican territory. After the Indians have kidnapped a group of children and brought them into the Mexican desert, the U.S. Cavalry crosses at last the Rio Grande.
