A group of teens and young adults show up at a summer camp early for counselor training. A legend abounds of a serial killer (Jason Voorhees) in the woods, but the head counselor dismisses it as fiction. One night, some of the kids head into town for drinks, leaving others behind. The serial killer shows up, and begins killing the teens. When the other group returns, child psychology student Ginny must fight Jason.
