| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Forty Guns |
FORTY GUNS is a western written, produced and directed by Samuel Fuller in 1957. This is one of the westerns that regenerated a then dying genre and allowed in some ways the revolution this genre will undergo 7 years later with the arrival of Sergio Leone and the spaghetti western
The three Bonnell brothers are federal marshalls. They arrive to Tombstone, Arizona, looking for an outlaw who've stolen a federal post office. They will soon have to confront Jessica Drummond, an hard-edged woman who makes the law around town with her forty hired guns at her side. She agrees to deliver the outlaw, one of the forty guns, to Griff Bonnell but Brockie, Jessica's young brother, wants to declare war to the Bonnells.
