| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Bedford Incident |
Journalist Ben Munceford (Sidney Poitier) is sent to write a news story on the U.S.S. Bedford, an American navy destroyer. He meets the ships captain, Eric Finlander (Richard Widmark) and learns that the Bedford is trailing a Soviet submarine that has violated the territorial waters of Greenland.
Finlander keeps his crew on high alert, but soon the chase grows tiring and when as they attempt to force the submarine to appear, one mistake could start World War III.
