Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Narrow Margin
THE NARROW MARGIN is a movie directed by Richard Fleischer in 1952.
Det. Sgt. Walter Brown and Det. Sgt. Gus Forbes arrive in Chicago. They have to pick there Mrs. Frankie Neil, the widow of a crook, in order to bring her back by train to Los Angeles. Mrs. Neil must testify against the mob and the L.A. District Attorney fears that she may be in danger. Soon after the policemen's arrival at Mrs. Neil's stash, Forbes is killed by a hitman who manages to escape.
Aboard the train to Chicago, Det. Brown hides Mrs. Neil in his compartment. He soon notices Kemp, a mob hitman, who tries to enter the compartment in several occasions. Det. Brown's advantage over his enemies is that they don't know Mrs. Neil's face. A few hours later, a man discreetly contacts Brown and offers him $20,000.- to kill Mrs. Neil.
