Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Crossfire
CROSSFIRE, based on a novel by Richard Brooks, was directed by Edward Dmytryk in 1947.

Joseph Samuels is found dead in his apartment. Three soldiers were seen talking to Samuels minutes before his death. Police Capt. Finlay will successively hear the testimonies of Montgomery and Cpl. Arthur Mitchell. As Mitchell was drunk most of the evening and is unable to remember with precision his evening's schedule, he soon becomes suspect number 1 of the murder. When Floyd Bowers, the third soldier, is found hanged in his hideout, Mitchell is arrested.

Sgt. Peter Keeley, Mitchell's best friend, knows that his pal doesn't have the nerves to kill someone and tries to convince Finlay of it but the policeman will solve the case alone. He'll finally understand that Samuels was murdered by someone who hated Jewish people.
