| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about XXX: State of the Union |
This movie loosely continues what was begun with XXX starring Vin Diesel. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Gibbons, from the National Security Agency. This time Gibbons recruits Ice Cube, a navy seal serving time for disobeying orders. But he's the best at what he does and Gibbons needs him to help discover why members of their old seal team are disappearing. Gibbons busts him out of jail and hides him out. Ice Cube will have a young agent/computer geek to help him out. He also recruits some of his "homies" from the "hood" to help go after an evil leader. He also borrows a James Bond-esque Shelby Mustang from his old girl who runs a car dealership for high end cars. Because what they discover is that there is a plot against the president (played by Peter Strauss). They also recruit an agent from inside the department of defense, in order to strike from the inside. The National Security Agency discovers when and where the evil men (led by Willem Dafoe) hope to strike and pull out all the stops to keep the president safe, including blowing up the capital building if necessary.
