| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Clay Pigeons |
Clay (Joaquin Phoenix) is a small-town boy in a Montana town. He's having an affair with a local married woman. The man finds out and commits suicide. Worried that he might be blamed, the two conspire and push the man's truck over a cliff where it blows up and the remains are not observable. The man was known as a drunk so no one thinks anything of it. Until a woman shows up dead floating in a lake. Funny thing, Clay happens to find her too. That's because he was having sex with her when the man's former wife comes in and finds them and shoots the girl. Once again, Clay didn't do it, but he helps cover it up. He dumped her body in the lake, but didn't weigh it down. Next he meets Lester (Vince Vaughn), who thinks he's doing Clay a favor and kills the wife. And others. And now Clay is being blamed. Clay must now extricate himself from this mess and prove who really did the killings before he skips town and before the killer decides to kill him to keep his mouth shut. Janeane Garofolo plays an FBI agent who comes to town to try to solve the killings.
