Review Summary and Plot Commentary about At Sword's Point
In 1648 France, Queen Anne is near death. Her son, Louis, is just a boy and too young to rule. The Duke Lavalle wants to marry the queen's daughter, Henriette, and take over the throne, after he kills the young prince. Queen Anne has hidden Louis away, and she tries to send messengers to her cousin in Spain, asking for his aid. But, each time, Lavalle's men get to them and kill them. Desperate, the queen sends word to the most famous Musketeers, Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D'Artagnan. But, the original Musketeers are too old to fight, so their sons, Aramis Jr, Porthos Jr, and D'Artagnan Jr meet up at an inn that was their father's meeting place. Later, they're joined by the last member, who they find out is Claire, the daughter of Athos, and just as expert a swordfighter. The next morning soldiers of Lavalle come to the inn, searching for Musketeers. When the soldiers don't believe their cover story, they pull out their swords and fight. After they win the battle they head off to the palace to meet Queen Anne. When they are granted an audience, the queen is surprised to see that it's the children of the Musketeers, but they promise their loyalty. The queen tells them where she has hidden the prince. She also says they have to get Henriette to Spain so that her cousin can protect her. Henriette goes on a carriage ride everyday, guarded by six of Lavalle's men, and the Musketeers plan to kidnap her to Spain. The queen thanks them, but says that Claire has to go back home.

Henriette's companion, Countess Claudine, is a spy for Lavalle, and tells him the plan to kidnap Henriette. Before they get ready to leave, Claire and D'Artagnan admit they have feelings for each other. During the carriage ride, D'Artagnan, Aramis, and Porthos overtake the carriage. Claire watches them before going home and sees more soldiers coming after them. She rides ahead to warn the others. They begin to fight but it's hopeless. They're taken away to be executed, but Lavalle lets them get away when Queen Anne agrees that he can marry Henriette. At the ceremony, the bride lifts her veil, and reveals that it's Claire. Henriette has been taken away to the inn by the other Musketeers. When they find the queen has died, they get ready to get Louis and take both him and Henriette to Spain.

Claire is held in prison, and Claudine helps her escape. She tells Claire that Henriette and the other Musketeers are captured. Claire thinks she's the only one left to save Louis. When Claudine says she wants to help, Claire says where he's hidden. Claudine informs Lavalle and he rides ahead and takes Louis away. Then she rides with Claire, but when Claire sees the others aren't captured she knows she's been tricked. They go to the inn, and lock Claudine in the cellar. Then, Claire seduces a soldier of Lavalle who comes to the inn, and they find out where Louis has been taken. But, he's heavily guarded by Lavalle's men, and his life is in more danger than ever. Four Musketeers won't be enough, so they set out to find the sons of their father's friends, and all of them race away to help rescue Louis and save France.
