Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Across the Wide Missouri
Directed by William A. Wellman in 1951. Trapper Flint Mitchell and his companions are about to begin their journey across the Missouri until Idaho and Montana. When Flint learns that a Blackfoot princess lives in the neighborhood, he decides at once to marry Kamiah because he certainly will need her when he'll have to cross the territory of the bellicose Blackfeet. Then begins a long journey through territories that no white man never yet traversed. Forests, mountains and prairies unwind in front of them days after days.

They finally arrive to Montana and are at once attacked by Ironshirt and his Blackfeet warriors who steal their horses. Thanks to the intervention of Kamia who's the granddaughter of Bear Ghost, the Blackfeet's leader, Ironshirt must return the horses stolen to Flint. But as Bear Ghost is killed a few weeks later, Ironshirt becomes the new chief of the Blackfeet and attacks Flint and his trappers at once.
