| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Foolproof |
Written and directed by William Phillips, Foolproof stars Ryan Reynolds as Kevin, an average guy working as an insurance salesman. It just so happens that Kevin, along with his friends Sam (Kristin Booth) and Rob (Joris Jarsky), have a hobby of planning heists without ever intending to pull them off. The movie opens with Kevin training on a stair climber. He was getting himself in shape to to rob a diamond jeweler that was one the tenth floor. The next day, Kevin gets a visit from a detective about the four hundred and fifty thousand dollars in stolen diamonds that were stolen. It was the very heist the crew dubbed "foolproof" that they fictiously planned out. Kevin lies to the detective, stating he didn't know anything about the heist. They then get approached by the mysterious Leo "The Touch" Gillette and told how he found out about their plans. Leo then blackmails them into doing a heist worth twenty million dollar in bonds. If they refused, Leo would tip off the police again. The movie becomes an action packed thriller as Kevin and his crew break into a highly guarded bank in an effort to pull themselves out of trouble.
