Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Mr. Deeds Goes To Town
Longfellow Deeds is a small town man and tuba player who recently inherited his recently deceased uncle 20 million dollars left to him. Overwhelmed over the fact that he is a millionaire, Deeds humbly believes why would he, of all people is left with money he really don't need. Deeds goes back playing his tuba without a care at all. But only a few hours later, Deeds takes a trip to New York to pick up his dead relative's fortune.

Deeds soon find out his life will change when a beautiful reporter named Louise 'Babe' Bennett, wants to interview him about his sudden windfall. Deeds does not know she is a reporter at first as she describes herself as a small town girl as a coverup for the newspaper. Deeds began to tell his story and how life changed for him drasticly. But Bennet instead tells another story otherwise, making him the talk of town and folks he do not know trying to get a piece of his money.

After spending some time with Deeds, Bennett began to regret writing false information for the paper, but she'd lost Deeds trust in her anyway, as he believed that she was the only true friend in the city. Deeds decided on the whim to give all his money to those who need it the most, the less fortune and make his way back to his old town, where he would not be scrutinized, going back home to those who care. But business is not finished yet in New York because there are schemers who want the money and would not stop at nothing to have it.
