Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Mask of Zorro
Diego de la Vega is a Don of Calafornia, Mexico. He is also the masked hero 'Zorro', coming in at the beginning of the film to defeat his mortal enemy Raphael Montero one last time. Unfortunately Montero recognises Diego this time, and goes to his house to arrest him. In the ensuing battle, Deigo's wife (whom Raphaehl loved) dies, his daughter is stolen and he is thrown in prison.
2o years later, Montero is back in Mexico, Diego breaks out and we meet a grown up Alejandro- a common bandit. When Alejandro's brother is killed, he swears revenge on Captain Love, the murderer. When Diego meets Alejandro, he takes him as his apprentice, to become the new 'Zorro'.
Thrown into the mix is the beautiful Elena- Diego's now adult daughter, brought up by Montero, and love interest of Alejandro.
The two Zorro's must now fight together- both socially and physically- against the plans of Montero and his Captain Love, to save the people of California.
